What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store on your device, so it can recognise you on your next request — for example, to keep you signed in. We also use similar technologies such as your browser's local storage, which lets the site save small pieces of information (like your cart) on your device. In this policy we use “cookies” as a shorthand for both.
Cookies and storage we use
We keep this to the essentials. Here is everything the website stores on your device.
Strictly necessary
These are required for the site to work — they let you sign in, keep a cart, pay for it safely, and record the cookie choice you made. The session cookie is set by our account service on a separate host from this website, and is sent back to that service on each request. They can't be switched off from within the site.

Analytics — only if you agree
We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to see how the site is used and where it's getting in people's way. These two cookies are set on this website by Google Analytics and are read back by Google. Neither is written unless you accept analytics, and both are deleted from your browser if you change your mind.

Your cookie choices
The first time you visit we show a banner with three choices, given equal prominence: Reject all, Accept all, and Customise. Nothing optional is switched on until you pick one, and ignoring or scrolling past the banner is not treated as agreement.
Customise opens a preferences panel with a single switch: Analytics. That's the only optional category we have — there is no advertising switch, because we run no advertising. The strictly necessary items above are listed there too, but they can't be turned off.
Your choice is saved in the jb.consent cookie on this website for 6 months, after which we ask again. We also keep a record of the choice on our own servers so we can show that consent was properly given or refused — see the Privacy Policy for what that record contains and how long we keep it.
You can change your mind whenever you like: Cookie settings in the footer of every page reopens the same panel. If you turn analytics off, we delete the _ga and _ga_… cookies from your browser straight away and stop sending anything further to Google. We also note the Google Analytics identifier those cookies held, so that if you ask us to, we can request that Google erase the data collected under it — contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.
What we send to Google
If you accept analytics, this is what goes to Google Analytics as you use the site:
- the pages you view;
- the items you look at and the items you order;
- the value of an order and its order reference;
- the branch you chose.
We never send your name, your email address, your phone number, or your delivery address to Google. The order reference is there so we can match a sale in Analytics to an order in our own system; on its own it tells Google nothing about who you are.
What Google receives before you choose
We want to be straight about this rather than bury it. The Google Tag Manager container loads on every page, including before you have answered the banner. Until you accept analytics it runs with every Google storage signal set to denied (this is Google Consent Mode v2 in its advanced mode), so no analytics cookie is written and nothing is stored on your device.
That is not the same as nothing reaching Google. Because the container is loaded from Google's servers and sends cookieless measurement pings, Google receives your IP address, your browser's user agent and the referring page you arrived from, before and regardless of any choice you make. Those pings carry no cookie or identifier that follows you between visits, and advertising signals stay denied permanently — but they do happen, and choosing Reject all does not stop them. It does stop everything else: no cookie, no visitor identifier, and no analytics profile for the rest of your visit.
Third-party requests
When you pay for an order, our payment provider Adyen handles the card details securely and sets its own cookies. They are required to take the payment and to prevent fraud, and they are set and controlled by Adyen rather than by us — Adyen's own privacy and cookie notices govern them.
One cookie in the first table comes from a different host to this website — better-auth.session_token — but it is ours, not a third party's: it is set by our own account API so that a single sign-in works across this site and our mobile apps.
Our branch map loads its map imagery from a third-party mapping service. Loading those images means the service can see your device's IP address, as it would for any image on the web, but the map does not place any cookie or storage of ours on your device. The fonts you see are served from this website, so viewing the site does not send requests to any font provider.
What we don't use
We do not use advertising cookies or any cross-site tracking. We run no ads, so there is no advertising category in our cookie settings, and the advertising signals Google Consent Mode supports are switched off permanently — not just until you choose. We don't build advertising profiles, we don't retarget you on other sites, and we don't sell your browsing data. Analytics is the only optional thing we run, and it stays off until you turn it on.
How to control cookies
For analytics you don't need to touch your browser at all: choose Cookie settings in the footer of any page and change the switch.
You can also view, block, or delete cookies and clear local storage through your browser's settings — every major browser lets you do this, and its help pages explain how. You can also browse in a private or incognito window, which discards this storage when you close it.
Please note that blocking the strictly necessary items above will stop you from signing in and completing an order, and clearing your storage will sign you out and empty your saved cart.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above.
